About the owners of Creative Brick Builders
Kristena Bins-Turner is the owner and founder of Creative Brick Builders.
What is Creative Brick Builders?
In 2014, the Turner family launched Creative Brick Builders, which includes a retail store that buys and sells LEGO bricks, minifigs, parts and sets. Creative Brick Builders is for LEGO fanatics young and not-so-young. The Creative Brick Builders Studio is a host location for classes, camps and workshops for children and adults featuring creative building and exploration, using a variety of materials and covering a wide range of subjects including electronic circuits, animation, computer development and handcrafts. The Creative Brick Builders Studio, located in Round Rock, offers a year-round location to create, tinker, build and explore.
Kristena is a member of TexLUG-Austin, a Recognized LEGO User's Group of AFOL's (Adult Fans of LEGO). Previously, Kristena worked for over 10 years at Dell, most recently as Director of Online Product Management. Curtis retired from Dell in 2000, and is a independent woodworking instructor, whose classes are offered at Tech Shop and Woodcraft. He also represents Lie-Nielsen Toolworks as a demonstrator at Hand Tool Events worldwide. He is a volunteer with the Round Rock Arts Council. The Turners are active volunteers in the Capitol Area Council, Boy Scouts of America. Kristena was a 2012 recipient of the Trail Blazer Award in Chisholm Trail District. She has also served as a Den Leader, a Merit Badge Counselor, and on the Council's Steering Committee for Cub Scout Camping. She was the Enrollment Director at Cub Scout Day Camp at Old Settlers Park, serving over 400 Cub Scouts (the largest camp in Council). Kristena was a member of the inaugural class (2011-12) of Leadership RRISD, a year-long selective program to develop potential Board of Trustees candidates, which allowed participants to see first-hand how the district creates a climate of success for our rapidly growing, diverse student population. She also served on a charrette (planning) team to help design the new Success High School in Round Rock.
The Turner family has been at home in Central Texas for over 25 years, and are blessed to have lots of extended family living nearby us. The family are parishioners at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Austin.
Kristena also is the current owner /director of the Bricks 4 Kidz® franchise in Central Texas. Bricks 4 Kidz is a creative learning enterprise whose project-based programs teach engineering principles to children using LEGO® Bricks, motors and remote controls. Kids ages 3-13 explore and collaborate using instructor-led proprietary lessons and model plans, themed learning units and motorized project kits. Bricks 4 Kidz provides an opportunity for children of all abilities to learn, to build and to play in a fun and engaging environment. Since opening in 2012, Bricks 4 Kidz ATX has served over 5000 families, and has led after-school enrichment classes on over 85 different elementary school campuses, in the Round Rock, Leander, Lake Travis, Dripping Springs, Austin, Eanes, and Pflugerville districts. It also hosts summer camps, in-school field trips and workshops for elementary students.
